Pediatric Ophthalmology

The health of your child’s eyes is vital to his or her well-being and development. Pediatric Ophthalmology Associates offers comprehensive medical eye exams for children from birth to age 21.  Eye exams at a doctor’s office or optometrist can determine a child’s visual acuity, but may not catch more severe conditions that can affect a child’s long term vision and health.  During your child’s exam, we’ll check for medical conditions like strabismus.

Treatment options for medical conditions like strabismus and amblyopia can range from glasses, patching, atropine drops, and prisms to surgery in more severe cases.  Regardless of the treatment, we schedule follow-up visits to monitor your child’s progress and ensure that he or she receives the best care possible.

Please note that at this time, we are unable to accept new patients unless they are referred to our office by a physician or other healthcare provider, or have a sibling that is currently a patient at our office.

If you have further questions about children’s eye care, please visit the American Association for Pediatric and Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) or the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), or give us a call.  Also, check out some of the frequently asked questions below from the AAPOS website with regards to pediatric ophthalmology.
